Can you Service your Brand New car with US and Not affect your warranty?

In October 2003 European Union legislation affecting to the Motor Trade came into force.

It's full title is 'Block Exemption Regulations 1400/2002 (BER).

This legislation changes the way cars may be serviced and repaired and gives motorists a lot

more freedom as to their decision as to who should look after their cars.

Before BER, it was very difficult to have cars, which were still covered by the manufacturer's warranty,

serviced anywhere except a franchised dealer. 

Now Motorists can use any garage of their choice to service their cars without invalidating the

manufacturers Warranty (Subject to certain conditions)

                                                              The Office of Fair Trading have stated that:

"Independent Repairers CAN carry out normal maintainence and repair services during

a vehicles warranty period without invalidating the VA's warranty conditions."

Two Conditions apply.........

1 That the service is in accordance with the VA's servicing schedules and is recorded as such.

2 That the parts used are of appropriate quality and are recorded as such

This is the Response of the entire repair sector for motor vehicles to defend the rights given by Block Exemption as Brussels attempts to remove thiese rights, causing large job losses in the industry and large increases in repair costs as you, the consumer are forced into expensive dealer servicing and repairs.
